An ex-convict was sentenced to jail again yesterday for stealing a bottle of rum.
Derek Persaud, 54, who was convicted seven times before, stole a bottle of Eldorado rum valued at $600 from Ashmin’s Trading on High and Hadfield streets on Monday. Persaud pleaded guilty to the charge at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1 yesterday.
The prosecution said Persaud had several previous convictions which include possession of a narcotic substance and simple larceny.
