For those of you who would like to use garden soil or compost, just add some clean white sand and mix same together. Pass the mixture through a household sieve twice, until it resembles a fine layer of soil. Fill the seed trays and follow last week guidelines.
Fertilize with Miracle Gro All Purpose at a strength of half a tablespoon to a gallon of water once per week. After transplanting, increase the strength to 1 tablespoon to a gallon of water once per week.
In approximately 4 – 6 weeks your Marigolds will begin to flower. Remember to dead-head the flowers regularly to prolong the flowering season and try to keep the soil weed free.
My seedlings are doing very well. They should bloom for Easter.
Planting Marigolds have proven to be useful. Your flower and vegetable gardens will thank you for them as they help where nematode infestation has been a problem. They also repel insects. So now is the time to start planting some Marigolds and enjoy the benefits.
