A man was in critical condition at the West Demerara Hospital last evening after being hit by a car.
According to reports received by Stabroek News, Fareed Hamid was walking on the road around 8 PM, when the car struck him. The car, which had licence plate PRR 324, was travelling along the Harlem, West Coast Demerara road when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle had said Hamid walked out from the side of the road and he did not see him. However, eyewitnesses at the scene challenged his account.
When Stabroek News arrived at the scene, Hamid was observed with a deep cut at the side of his abdomen and his face was covered in blood.
Residents of the area then placed the man in the back of a canter and took him to the West Demerara Hospital. Up to press time, he was said to be in critical condition.
