ExxonMobil’s rig, Deepwater Champion has completed drilling for roughly one third of the allotted time the energy giant committed to for its well offshore Demerara.
Drilling commenced for the US$200M oil exploration project on March 5 and the company has a 60-day drilling schedule planned, with the intention of drilling at a depth of 1750 metres. The total area allotted to Exxon for exploration covers 26, 806 square kilometres.
Prior to drilling commencing, Country Manager, Jeff Simon told Stabroek News that the process had been smooth with the rig arriving on time and checks being done seamlessly.
