Morris Prince, accused of assaulting a man and shooting at him, was on Tuesday freed of both charges after the victim refused to give evidence against him.
It was alleged that on November 15, 2013 at the Botanical Gardens, Prince, of Ruimveldt Public Road, unlawfully assaulted Collin Primus.
It was also alleged that Prince discharged a loaded firearm at Primus with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause actual bodily harm.
The unrepresented Prince pleaded not guilty to both charges read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.
No further details about the charges were presented in court.
When the case was transferred to Magistrate Fabayo Azore for a return date, the court was informed that the victim wished not to give evidence against Prince.
As a result, both charges were subsequently dismissed.
