Guyana’s national rugby Sevens team yesterday crashed out of contention for honours in the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Sevens tournament in Hong Kong losing to Zimbabwe and Spain respectively.
Playing in their opening game of Pool G yesterday, The Guyanese were beaten 0-36 by Zimbabwe. They later took the field against Spain and lost 5-50. They play their remaining pool round robin fixture this morning against Tonga who also lost twice going under 0-41 to Zimbabwe and 5-27 to Spain.
As a result the Guyanese were in last position with two points and a -81 differential as opposed to Tonga’s two points and a -63 differential.
The two teams will play at 9am this morning.
Zimbabwe leads the group with six points and a plus 77 differential while Spain occupy second place also with six points but a plus 67 differential.
Spain and Zimbabwe to clash this morning to decide who will top the group.
