Defending champs Melanie-A were booted from the third annual Guinness of the Streets East Coast of Demerara tourney, losing to underdogs Nabaclis by a 1-0 score line on Friday at the Haslington Market Place.
Akamo Jack stunned the titleholders in the evening’s final fixture as he netted what would prove to be the game’s only conversion in the 14th minute.
With the win, Nabaclis will now match skills with Melanie-B in the semi-final round on Wednesday at the same venue, after the latter defeated Buxton by a 1-0 margin. Amoniki Rodgers scored the winner for Melanie-B through a ninth minute finish.
Surviving the fate of the champs were former titleholders Plaisance-A who overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Paradise by a 2-1 margin in the second quarterfinal matchup.
Surrendering the early advantage to a Darwin London third minute goal, Plaisance-A would level the score line four minutes onward through a Carlos Matthews strike. They would then find the go-ahead winner seven minutes onward as Warren Gilkes netted.
Due to the victory, Plaisance-A will locks with Beterverwagting (BV-A) who brushed aside their yellow villagers BV-B by a 3-0 score in the opening fixture of the night. Akin Curry gave BV-A the best possible start as he found the back of the net in the first minute.
Delroy Dean would then make it 2-0 compliments of a seventh minute conversion. Curry would then put the game to bed as he completed his double compliments of a 19th minute strike.
