Four more persons have been found guilty and fined $7,500 each for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to a press release from the Guyana Police Force, the four men were stopped over the period February 22 to March 2 and were administered breathalyzer tests, which revealed that they were over the legal limit.
On February 22, Brian Giddins of Lot 300 ‘A’ Thomas Street, Georgetown was stopped on Thomas Street while driving motor vehicle PMM 2718. He was given a breathalyzer test and found to be over the legal limit of consumption of alcohol. When he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on February 26, he pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $7,500. On the same day, Ameer Ali of Lot 82 North Klien Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara was stopped on Cornhill Street, Georgetown. He was driving motor vehicle PNN 3359. A breathalyzer test was given to him and he was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged, appeared on February 26 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.
Meanwhile, John Jhoot of Lot 120 Kumaka Street, Sophia, Georgetown, was stopped while driving motor vehicle PNN 3758 on the Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara. A breathalyzer test was administered and he was found to be over the legal limit of consumption of alcohol. The man was charged and appeared on March 5 at the Providence Magistrate Court where he pleaded guilty. He was fined $7,500 also. And further, Rayan Rayhar of One Mile Potato Road, Bartica was stopped and had a breathalyzer test administered on March 2. He was driving motor vehicle PRR 4755 on Fourth Avenue and Fifth Street, Bartica. He appeared at the Bartica Magistrate Court on March 4 and pleaded guilty where he was fined $7,500.
