A six-year-old boy was yesterday struck down by a speeding car as he was holding on to his mother’s dress while they crossed the West Bank Demerara Public Road.
Adon George, of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara was listed as critical up to press time. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Adon sustained severe injuries to his brain and limbs.
His grandfather Dariel Kramer stated that he received a call around 1pm from his daughter that the boy was hit by a car. He said the driver of the car rendered assistance to transport the child to the city hospital. “My grandson was coming by me to spend the rest of the day. He was holding on to his mother dress when it happened,” he said, adding that his daughter was holding her infant in her arms and had told the young boy to hold on to her dress as they crossed the road.
