A Laing Avenue resident was placed on $30,000 bail on Tuesday after appearing in a city court on a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on another.
Murtland Paul pleaded not guilty to the charge. It stated on February 25, 2014, Paul unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Devon Semple. The charge was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.
The prosecution did not object to bail, which was granted. However, after having bail set at a sum of $50,000 the accused pleaded with the court for a reduction, while noting that he is a father of two. Bail was subsequently reduced to $30,000 and he was ordered to return to court on April 30.
