A fruit vendor and a shoemaker were arraigned on Tuesday on charges of possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
It alleged that on March 30, at Cocorite Street, East La Penitence, Keoma Gravesande and Rockel Accra had in their possession 166 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. It was further alleged that on the same day Accra had an additional 39 grammes of cannabis also for the purpose of trafficking.
The lawyer representing the duo argued that other persons would have had access to the premises where the drugs were found. She further noted that the possession of cannabis is being decriminalised in other places as she petitioned for bail for her clients.
However, Accra and Gravesande were refused bail. The matter was adjourned until April 2 for trial.
