A welder was on Tuesday granted bail after denying misappropriating money entrusted to him.
The court heard that Zamalodeen Khan, 43, of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, fraudulently misappropriated $150,000 given to him by Bibi Shaw to purchase a canter.
The man pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
Prosecutor John Singh objected to bail because the police are currently investigating Khan for similar matters.
But despite the prosecutor’s objection, Magistrate Zamilla Ally set bail at $150,000 and adjourned the case to April 20.
