A wet pitch after a short but heavy downpour forced led to the abandonment of a match between New York Cricket Academy and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) yesterday.
The match which took place at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda, saw rain forcing the umpires to call off play after lunch in the U13 35-over fixture between the two teams.
At the time the rain began, the visitors’ innings was already closed at 130-6 off their allotted overs. Opener Sai Teja scored 28 (2×4) while Akhil Kumar and Isaiah Jagernauth made 21 each. Negusa Walters and Mavindra Dindyal collected two wickets each. The host were about to commence their reply when the rain intervened.
