Police say they are still investigating the murder of poultry farmer Errol Alvyn “Gregory” Hernandez who was found dead in his cabin at the farm on March 15, Crime Chief Leslie James said on Wednesday.
James told Stabroek News that the murder was still under investigation and that the men held initially for the killing were released and not re-arrested.
Errol Hernandez, age 61, formerly of North West, Region One, was found around 7.30 am by a group of farm employees who noticed him missing. According to a source, Hernandez, a poultry farm manager, would usually turn off the farm’s generator every day at midnight. However, on that morning, employees returned to work and noticed that the generator was still running.
He was later discovered in his home dead. An autopsy revealed that he died of multiple stab wounds.
Four ex-employees were arrested after the discovery. According to a source, the men were fired by the owner of the poultry farm after Hernandez reported that they were stealing chickens from the farm.
Hernandez family have expressed discontent with the police investigation and have also cited concerned about the farm having no proper security for workers living on the farm.
