Despite an impressive spell by Everest’s off spinner Sachin Ramroop who captured 6-30, host Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) still managed a big win by 119 runs in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Brainstreet Under-15 tournament yesterday.
After being put in, GYO rattled up 173-9 in 50 overs to overcome Ramroop’s threat. Navendra Persaud hit five boundaries in his top score of 41 while Chandra Mohan chipped in with 33. Gansham Premchand collected 2-17 to support Ramroop.
Everest was bundled out for 54 in 25.3 overs in their response as Anil Singh and Movendra Dyndyal snared two wickets each. Premchand (16) was the only Everest batsman to reach double figures.
At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, Georgetown Cricket Club’s (GCC) horrific run in this tournament continued as they were routed for 37 in 17.4 overs by Diplomats, suffering a nine-wicket loss in the process.
GCC’s Thameshwar Permaul made 10 as off spinner Jonathan St Hill bagged 3-8. Spinners Anthony Permaul and Mark Mitchell also bowled well for Diplomats, taking two wickets each.
Diplomats raced to 38-1 in three overs to complete a comprehensive victory. It was GCC’s second score under 50 for the week, after making 44 against Transport Sports Club on Tuesday.
