Three Linden youths were yesterday charged with stealing a bus and a car and a city court heard that they were caught while driving one of the stolen vehicles.
Preston Skeete, 19, who is a mason, Shawn Wilson, 20, a labourer, and Harold Rogers, 20, all of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, were not required to plead to the charges yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The charges stated that the three men allegedly stole a bus, valued at $3.5M, belonging to the Linden Mayor and Town Council between March 1 and March 2, 2015, as well as a Toyota 212 car, valued at $1.8M, which was the property of Renson Rawlings between March 2 and March 3, 2015, at Wismar, Linden. The prosecution stated that Skeete, Rogers, and Wilson were all caught in the stolen car and admitted to selling the bus.
However, their attorney stated that while Rogers was driving the stolen car, he had rented it from a local car rental service. Skeete and Wilson, he added, were on their way to Linden when they noticed Rogers driving and entered the car.
Skeete, Rogers, and Wilson were placed on $150,000 bail for each charge by Magistrate Fabayo Azore. Their next court date is April 14, 2015, when the matter will be heard at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
