Everest Cricket Club held on to win a two-run thriller over Bel Air Rubis in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Brainstreet Under-15 tournament yesterday.
Played at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground, MYO defeated Rubis by the slim margin in an exhilarating low-scoring encounter.
Batting first Everest made 128 all out in 42 overs with Yeudistir Persaud (36), leading the way. Joshua Gardener chipped in with 21 as Alex Bacchus claimed 4-25 for Rubis. Bacchus received support from Shivanand Gosain and Andrew Samaroo who collected two wickets apiece.
In reply Rubis fell two runs short after being restricted to 126 in 32 overs, as only Nand Sanicharand 38 and Dellon McAllister 26 showed form with the bat. Sachin Ramroop, Dameon Persaud and Gardener captured two wickets each for Rubis.
The tournament continues tomorrow with several matches at venues in the city.
