The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) will soon be introducing its ultra-modern Online Contribution Checking System that will allow contributors to easily access contribution updates via the Web.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) report, the system is a web interface which connects to an offline version of the database used by the NIS. “It was built on top of an existing and secure framework which powers thousands of sites on the web… and provides credentials and access to details regarding users’ contributions,” GINA said.
The NIS Board of Directors participated in a demonstration exercise on Wednesday at the Patrick Martinborough multi-purpose complex on Carifesta Avenue. General Manager Doreen Nelson said the exercise is only the start of the process to get the website up and running. Once the Board is satisfied with the controls and security, the website will immediately become accessible to the public.
