Agricola Red Triangle got their Lens Craft Optical/EBFA U-13 League off to the perfect start dismantling Diamond United by a 7-0 score line yesterday at the Grove Community Centre ground.
Agricola was given the perfect chance to take the early lead when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute for a handled ball infringement within the area. Tasked with taking the spot-kick, Kurwayne Lyte would be denied as his right footed strike was saved by legs of the custodian.
The woodwork would then come to rescue of Diamond two minutes onward as Lyte upon skipping past his marker within the penalty area, lashed his effort onto the crossbar despite having only the goalkeeper in his path.
Nonetheless the deadlock would eventually be broken in the 20th minute as Leon Moore netted from the penalty mark following another handball infringement. Stepping up to the mark, Moore would clinically place his right footed attempt into the lower right hand corner.
The flood gates would then be opened as Shemar Morrison doubled their lead five minutes later with a simple finish into the lower left corner, after receiving a pass within the left side of the six yard area.
Failing to score earlier from the penalty mark, Lyte would eventually etch his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 30th minute, finishing through the legs of the ‘keeper from within the centre of the area, after fighting off the challenges of two pursuing defenders following a solo run.
It would then become 4-0 in the 37th minute as Moore netted his second with a strike down the middle of the goal from within the left side of the box.
Moore would then complete his deserved hat-trick in the 39th minute as his lobbed right sided strike comically went through the hands of the keeper and into the back of the net.
The score line would continue balloon one minute later as Morrison sealed his double, slotting into the net from within the left side of the box, after a right sided cross was parried into his path by the keeper.
Kareem Johnson would then complete the result in the 55th minute with a powerful header into the left hand corner, after rising above his marker to make contact with a left sided cross. Similarly registering a win was Herstelling Raiders who defeated home side Grove Hi-Tech 1-0.
Shoran James was the difference between the two sides in the 25th minute, stabbing his effort past the goalkeeper down the middle of the goal, after pouncing on a loose ball within the centre of the six-yard box.
Herstelling should have doubled their lead in the 57th minute as they were awarded a penalty kick after a Grove defender handled the ball within the area.
However, the visitors would fail to capitalise from the mark as Narendra Kamal saw his left footed shot punched to safety by the ‘keeper.
