Blueberry Hill and Silver City Valley Combined will contest the final of the Stag Beer sponsored Brooklyn X2 Promotions Inter-Ward knockout football tourney after securing semi-final wins over Amelia’s Ward and Christianburg respectively.
Blueberry Hill overcame Amelia’s Ward by a 4-2 score line while Silver City Valley Combined dismissed Christianburg by a 3-1 margin at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground.
In the Blueberry Hill and Amelia’s Ward showdown, Randy Small gave the former outfit the early lead with a 14th minute attempt. However, Amelia’s Ward would quickly level the score four minutes later as veteran ball weaver Travis Watterton netted.
Shane Luckie would then push Blueberry Hill back into the lead in the second period as he found the back of the net in the 53rd minute. The score line would be leveled once more as Terrence Aaron scored through a 57th minute strike.
Nonetheless Blueberry Hill would retake the advantage in the 68th minute as Small completed his double. The score line would be completed in the 75th minute as Luckie netted his second goal of the evening.
In the other semi-final, Silver City Valley Combined broke the deadlock in the third minute compliments of a Damian Williams effort. Their lead would be doubled two minutes later as Colwin Drakes found the back of the net.
The fixture would quickly get beyond the reach of Christianburg as Silver City Valley scored in the 26th minute through Rawlston Frazer. Christianburg would eventually net a consolation goal in the 47th minute through Adrian Barker.
The event which will conclude on May 6th at the same location after the resulting Linden Town Week, will be contested for over $700,000 in cash and prizes.
Event victors will walk away with $400,000 and the championship trophy while the second place side will receive $200,000 and the respective trophy. The third positioned side will receive $125,000 and the corresponding trophy while the fourth place finisher will receive $75,000.
