Autopsy inconclusive on teen girl’s cause of death

An examination conducted yesterday to determine the cause of death of Devkumarie Ramadhar, the teen girl whose partially nude body washed ashore at Ruimzigt, West Coast Demerara on Saturday, was inconclusive, Commander of ‘D’ Division Marlon Chapman said.

Due to the severe state of decomposition of Ramadhar’s body, the pathologist could not precisely ascertain the cause of death, Chapman said after the post-mortem examination.

A source told Stabroek News that as a result of the inconclusive findings, samples were taken and will be used for further examination in determining the cause of the teen’s death.

Chapman, meanwhile, disclosed that investigations are still ongoing, while the two men who were held for questioning have since been released on station bail.

Ramadhar, 17, of Bella Dam, West Bank Demerara, was said to be involved with both men.

She went missing a week before her body was discovered.

Relatives had lodged a missing person’s report at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station.

The search for the girl’s body ended after her body washed ashore and the odour attracted passersby, who found the body.
