The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C)’s Region 5 representative Priya Manickchand has condemned the destruction of party campaign material. In a release issued yesterday, the party stated that “Campaign material such as PPP/C flags, posters and billboards were either completely destroyed, ripped down or tampered with over the last 12 hours throughout Region 5.”
The statement continued that “Supporters are specifically asked also not to reciprocate this type of hooliganistic, criminal, backward behaviour. This is not what we stand for as a party.”
The party called on its supporters to report this behaviour to the police, the Guyana Elections Commission and the party should similar circumstances arise.
