EU Delegation inviting applications for its trainee programme

The Delegation of the European Union has launched its non-remunerated Traineeship Programme aimed at giving young professionals and students from the Region an opportunity to garner skills as trainees at the Delegation.

Trainees positions are being offered to young university graduates with no, or limited (one year maximum) relevant professional experience, as well as senior university students where the traineeship is a complement to their academic training, a release from the EU Delegation to Guyana said. The traineeship is open to nationals from where the Delegation is accredited, that is Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the Dutch Overseas Coun-tries and Territories.

The preferred traineeship period is five months full-time, with the starting date at the end of June.

The traineeships are being offered in the Bilateral, Trade, Political, Press and Information as well as in Finance, Contracts and Audits sections. Successful applicants will be based at the EU Delegation in Georgetown.

Head of the EU Delegation to Guyana, Ambassador Robert Kopecky said it is an exciting venture and he hopes that there will be a multitude of applicants, not only from Guyana but from the other territories where the delegation is accredited.

He also said it is an opportunity for the successful applicants to gain an early insight into the functioning of a large international organisation that is the European Union.

Interested applicants can find the Terms of Reference detailing the requirements on the Delegations website at www.delguy.ec.europa.eu on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Delegation-of-the-European-Union-in-Guyana and Twitter at www.twitter.com/DelGUYGEO.

To be considered for the programme, applicants should primarily be nationals from where the Delegation is accredited as well as EU member states. However, on a case-by-case basis, applicants of other nationalities will also be considered.

The deadline for applications is April 30.
