Fruta Conquerors FC in collaboration with Global Technology subsidiary I-Net Communications, officially launched their u-13 Football League Championship yesterday at a simple ceremony held at the latter’s headquarters on Camp Street.
The event which is sanctioned by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA), will commence May 1st at the Tucville Community ground. This collaboration is another one of the many ventures between the technological entity and the club.
Alongside their financial donation, the titular sponsors will also be giving away scholarships to an entire team in the event.
President of Tucville based unit Wayne Forde said the event is another step in the direction of the club’s intention to develop the discipline from the foundation level, declaring that the initiative was
the result of the partnership fostered between “corporate and sporting Guyana”.
He noted that while they has been a lack of emphasis on youth football, the club has taken it upon itself to fill that void and help to develop the sport at a grassroots level.
Forde further said he hopes the relationship between the two institutions can continue to grow and that he looks forward to continued association for further events at a different age group.
GFA President (Ag) Lavern Fraser-Thomas said Fruta Conquerors is a beacon of light for all clubs in the country for their continued emphasis on youth development and that the association is very pleased to support such initiatives.
She further thanked the sponsors for their continued involvement with the Tucville unit, while hinting that she hopes the partnership can continue to prosper.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Representative Kenisha Wills said that the entity is very excited about the tournament and that their current theme for the year is youth development through their community focused enterprises.
Wills said she foresees a continued alliance between the two bodies as this is not their first venture together, wishing noting is eagerly awaiting the start of the event.
