With a loss already incurred in their opening Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship fixture, Surinamese giants Inter Moengotapoe will need a win when they oppose Trinidad and Tobago unit Central FC today in their final group matchup.
The Suriname unit will return to the site of their 3-0 loss to group-1 hosts Alpha United on Wednesday. Daniel Wilson, Gregory Richardson and Kithson Bain settled the outcome for the locals at the National Stadium in Providence to give them command of the group.
Anything other than a victory will relegate the Dutch unit to the tourney’s exit as they currently are on zero points. On the other hand, this matchup represents the first fixture in the group for the Trinidad and Tobago Pro League leaders.
With a game in hand against hosts Alpha United on Sunday 19th at the same locale, Central FC will attempt to secure a positive result heading into a possible elimination fixture with the Guyanese.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the emerging winner will advance to the second round of the championship. The tourney’s final round which is slated to commence from May 20th-25th, will be played in a knockout format to select the champion.
Similarly, the top three teams in the final section of the event will earn places in the CONCACAF Champions League tourney.
