Operation Restoration, a non-governmental organisation, is partnering with the European Union to implement the ‘Cooperating for Community Transformation’ Project in East Ruimveldt, which is aimed at informing residents about the various social, financial and other services available to them.
The first activity on the programme is a ‘Knowledge Sharing Street Fair’ which will be held today from 10AM to 6PM at Back Circle, East Ruimveldt, between Mango Lane and Ginip Lane or two corners on the right from the Plaza Bridge on Mandela Avenue. The overall objectives of the fair are to expose residents in the community to social services agencies, business and entrepreneurial and life skills opportunities and to provide an opportunity for them to build partnerships with agencies that provide services which are needed in the community.
The fair focuses on four themes: Entrepreneurship and Financing, Life Skills, Social Services and Religion. The participating organisations are from the public and civil society sectors.
A representative from the EU will deliver the opening remarks and the fair will be declared open by Local Government Minister Norman Whittaker.
