Dear Editor,
When I read the story that Guyanese sprinter Rupert Perry clocked 10.3 seconds in the 100-metre dash, I must say that I felt proud for the taxpayers of Guyana.
They did well by building this International Synthetic track facility even though the final cost was $1 billion. This PPP administration has lost more than that on two projects – Specialty Hospital and the Amaila Road.
It was a difficult struggle. Thank you Mr. Patrick Pitt and that professional team at DCSL, the design consultants, who insisted on standards.
These standards helped to plant the foundation for this final product.
The Minister of Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony, must also be singled out for a job well done.
Let us now not lock it up and hide it from the Guyanese people like the National Pool but put it to work to produce a group of world-class athletes that can win some gold medals. Finally!
Yours faithfully,
Sase Singh
