A miner is now free on $200,000 bail after denying a charge that he fired a gun at a friend after threatening to kill him.
Cleveland Ambrose, of Lot 10 Grove Public Road, pleaded not guilty yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.
According to the charge, on March 21, 2015, on Grove Public Road, Ambrose discharged a loaded firearm at Rayan Carter with intent to cause bodily harm.
The prosecution’s case is that after a heated argument with Carter, Ambrose left and returned with a gun and threatened to kill Carter. Ambrose allegedly fired a shot towards Carter but missed. Carter subsequently made a report to the police and Ambrose was arrested and charged.
The prosecution had no objections to bail, which Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry set at $200,000. Ambrose, however, has to report to the Providence Police Station every Friday. His next court date is April 23, when the case will be heard at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
