Lennox ‘2 Sharpe’ Allen was undefeated before his fight against Paul Gonsalves last Friday.
It stayed that way after the fight at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The New York based light heavyweight prospect impressively won the second fight off his 2015 campaign in familiar fashion, stopping his 33-year old opponent via a seventh round TKO.
‘2 Sharpe’ sliced through Gonsalves defence and dropped him with a left hook to the head. Gonsalves then went down for the 10-count at one minute, 40 seconds of round seven in the scheduled eight-rounder.
The undefeated Allen, who weighed in at 169 pounds of Brooklyn, NY is now 19-0-1 with 12 knockouts. Gonsalves, 170 pounds of Harwich, Massachusetts dropped to 7-7.
In an invited comment with Stabroek Sport yesterday, Allen who KO’d Kojo Issah (round two) in January disclosed that he is looking forward for a world title crack at the end of the year.
Said the 29-year old southpaw, “Right now we are looking for one of the top 15, top 10 guys because I hope to fight for a world title before the end of the year or early 2016.”
If ‘2 Sharpe’ continues to slice through the division, he could perhaps become Guyana’s next world champion.
