The policeman who fled the scene after accidently shooting Albouystown resident Shequena Anderson on Wednesday is now under close arrest, ‘A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken said yesterday. A police statement on Wednesday said the rank who is alleged to have discharged the round dropped the firearm and fled the scene and could not be located. Two other ranks who were with him are under close arrest.
Meanwhile, Anderson’s mother said the girl is recovering.
A great-aunt of the injured girl, who preferred not to be named, told Stabroek News that she heard that three policemen, who are friends of her niece, visited. The woman said she was told that Anderson warned the men about playing with the gun before she was shot.
