The Embassy of Mexico in Guyana is inviting graduate students and professionals in the arts, media and academic fields to apply for the 2016 Scholarships Programme for International Students and the 2015 edition of the Special Programmes of Scholarships.
The programmes are being offered by the Mexican Government through the Mexican Agency for International Deve-lopment Cooperation (AMEXCID).
The government has partnered with 71 top universities and research centres to offer international students an array of masters and doctorates, a press release from the Embassy said.
The 2016 Scholarships Programme offers candidates an opportunity to study a specialisation, master or doctorate, or participate in an academic mobility programme in Mexico. The programme is open until August 31, 2015 for students of more than 180 countries who can benefit from the progress achieved by Mexico in many areas of science and humanities.
Additional benefits are available to candidates from Guyana and other Caricom countries when enrolling in Engineering, Health, Biotechnology, Geno-mics, Mechatronics, Nanotechn-ology and Environment, such as a Spanish preparatory course.
The 2015 edition of the Special Programmes of Scholarships which was also recently opened includes grants for artists or academics from the arts fields to create an artistic work in Mexico under the guidance of an expert; media professionals who are interested in writing articles and reports about topics related to Mexico; and specialists and academics from institutions of higher education (IES) to give special lectures, courses and conferences in Mexican universities.
“The Mexican Government Scholarships are a great opportunity for professionals and students of several fields to further their studies and curricular background in top Mexican universities and research centres,” the statement said.
The programmes are part of a comprehensive policy of the AMEXCID to offer international students educational opportunities in Mexico.
Other joint programmes that are also a part of this initiative such as OAS-CONACYT-AMEXCID aim to further the scientific and technological capacities in the Americas.
