Dear Editor,
Commissioner of Information, Justice Charles Ramson, SC. (rtd), writes tongue in cheek, that he read a letter written by me captioned `We should not be held to ransom by our history ‘if only’ in the context of my (in their) earlier but ‘discreet’ involvement with the machinery, practices and ambitions of the PPP/C and PNCR (SN 15/04/2015).
Not only do I share with former Minister Dr. H. Jeffrey this experience, but with Justice Charles Ramson, SC, himself, as well.
Justice Ramson SC, will be the first to admit that his formative years in politics was learning amongst the top brass of the PNC and at the lap of President LFS Burnham, a man he never disrespects.
Justice Ramson SC, also served twice as the Attorney General and Minster of Legal Affairs under two different Presidents of the PPP/C administration. This is a rare distinction, and therefore makes Justice Ramson SC more than a ‘discreet’ actor in the politics of Guyana.
I am in total agreement with Justice Ramson that education is a ‘continuing process’, and that all young people should ‘take note’. In this context, I call on all young Guyanese to read Ramesh Deonarine’s letter on ‘critical support’, where he states that our Commissioner of Information Justice Ramson SC, ‘is guilty of serious distortion on the PPP/C policy on critical support’. (SN 20/04/2015).
‘Revisionist historians’ never change facts; they may interpret the data differently but never distort facts. So I am sure that Justice Ramson SC is not guilty of such blasphemy.
Unfortunately, our Commissioner of Information Justice Ramson SC now runs the risk of losing credibility for such slippage. His apology to the young people of Guyana, for attempting to mislead them, deliberate or not, is waiting. Remember, education is a ‘continuing process’.
Yours faithfully,
Jerome Khan
