Only a small portion of A-field’s main road was done

Dear Editor,

“The success of democracy depends, in the end, on the reliability of the judgments we citizens make, and hence upon our capacity and determination to weigh arguments and evidence rationally.” ― Irving M. Copi

A few months ago (I cannot remember the exact date), the main roads of the B-field and C-field districts of Sophia were reconstructed since they were in deplorable conditions. However, while they were done in its entirety, the A-field residents were left out. Only a small portion of A-field’s main road was done. If you were to pass its entrance on Dennis Street, one would easily be fooled into believing that the entire roadway was complete. But you would be very wrong. As it turns out, a very short drive on that new road would abruptly end and you would then begin to travel on what is nothing short of a rocky trail. I find this act by the ministry extremely distasteful.

For years the A-field residents have lived with these conditions and few have been vocal about it. To give you a wider perspective of how bad our roads are; taxi drivers refuse to come in to the area (and they are right to do so). For those who care about the well-being of their vehicles, it would take as much as twenty minutes to travel the entire length of the main road. As for the small streets, they are even worse; most have been reduced to mud paths.

If you woke up in a good mood, it would be sour by the time you reach the end of my street. Yet, for the better part of the community, they remain silent on the matter. Or maybe their cries are mere whispers. Well I will shout and I will continue to do so until I receive what is my given right as a citizen. To the Minister of Public Works and the President, fix our roads!

Yours faithfully,
Kristoff Wray
