A Lodge man has been remanded to prison after being charged with the murder of Patricia Sanasie, who was gunned down in front of her home in January in what appeared to be a hit.
Richard Stanton, 39, of Lot 53 Princes Street, Lodge, was not required to plead to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.
It is alleged that Stanton murdered Sanasie on January 12, at Atlantic Gardens, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
No details about the murder were presented in court.
The case was transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for May 4.
Sanasie, 45, was shot dead around 7.30 pm on January 12, in front of her daughter at their Lot 129 Atlantic Gardens home. She was shot multiple times to her upper body at point-blank range while she was opening her gate.
The shooting occurred almost a year after her husband, Ram’s Auto Spares and Ram’s Variety Store Owner Deokarran Sanasie accused her of being behind an attempted hit on him.
