A man was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday after admitting to borrowing phones from two persons to make calls and then taking off with them.
Jermaine Sealy, 27, admitted to Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in a city court that he fraudulently converted two cellular phones. The phones, valued at $118,000 and $50,000, were the property of Jacqueline Osbourne and Stephon John, respectively.
The prosecution stated that on February 28, 2015, Sealy asked Osbourne to borrow her phone to make a call. He subsequently made way with it.
He also borrowed John’s phone on April 9, 2015, and made way with it.
Sealy was sentenced to three months in prison for each charge.
