The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is saddened by the passing of former US Ambassador to Guyana, George F Jones who it says will be remembered for the role he played during and after the historic October 1992 elections which saw the party elected to office.
“Mr Jones served as Ambassador from January 1992 to August 1995 during which time he worked closely with former US President Jimmy Carter to support free and fair elections in the October 1992 elections which brought to an end twenty eight years of minority authoritarian rule,” the party said in a press release.
Jones had a distinguished career in the diplomatic arena which spanned 40 years. After retiring from the
