Dear Editor,
I read a letter published in your letter column on 29.4.2015, written by Janet Bulkan. That letter contains the following sentence:
“Attorney General, Anil Nandlall’s medical expenses which were met by the taxpayer totalled 4.9 million dollars.”
The Head of the Presidential Secretariat clarified, publicly, that medical expenditure for a Cabinet member as well as several constitutional post holders, including, members of the Judiciary, Leader of the Opposition, inter alia, is an entitlement which predates the People’s Progressive Party/Civic Administration.
Notwithstanding, I repaid to the Accountant General of Guyana, the sum approved by Cabinet, as medical expenses in respect of me, to which the letter writer refers.
I made this information public since the latter part of 2014. Unfortunately, the misinformation continues, unabated.
I hope that this brief missive will finally set the record straight.
Yours faithfully,
Mohabir Anil Nandlall
Attorney General
Minister of Legal Affairs.
