Fruta Conquerors-A and Western Tigers were amongst the winners when the inaugural I-Net Communications sponsored Fruta Conquerors u-13 football league continued yesterday at the Tucville Community ground.
Western Tigers downed fierce rivals Santos FC by a 2-0 margin in the fifth match of the day. Michael Oie opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a right sided strike into the lower left hand corner of the net, from within the penalty area.
Oie would then seal the hard-fought win 10 minutes later, completing his second half double with a right footed finish into the lower left corner, after being in a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalkeeper inside the centre of the box. Similarly, Fruta Conquerors-A overcame Riddim Squad by a 1-0 margin. Raheem Marques found the fixture’s only goal in the 12th minute, lashing his effort into the lower right hand corner after being in a one-on-one situation with the keeper inside the box.
In other results, Fruta Conquerors edged arch-rivals Sunburst Camptown 1-0. Jermaine Garrett scored for the home side with a fifth minute effort. In the second fixture, Pele FC defeated Black Pearl 1-0 compliments of a Davontay Mars 18th minute strike.
The third matchup witnessed Beacons FC and Order and Discipline FC battling to a 1-1 stalemate. Order and Discipline took the early lead under fortuitous circumstances as their opponent’s conceded a fourth minute own goal. However, Beacons would level the score line in the 15th minute as James Freeman netted. The final matchup of the match day witnessed Renaissance-A and Renaissance-B battling to a 1-1 draw.
Bevney Mark opened the scoring for Renaissance-A through a fourth minute effort while Selwyn Jones netted for Renaissance-B in the 24th minute. The action continues today at the same venue with six matchups.
In the opening fixture, Order and Discipline will oppose Sunburst Camptown while Beacons FC will lock horns with Black Pearl from 13:00hrs.
Fruta Conquerors will then oppose Pele FC while Renaissance-B will tackle Riddim Squad from 14:00hrs. The final two matches will witness Western Tigers opposing Fruta Conquerors-A and Renaissance-A battling Santos FC.
Tomorrow, the opening matches at 13:00hrs will pit Fruta Conquerors-A against Renaissance-A and Western Tigers Riddim Squad. At 14:00hrs, Renaissance-B will tackle Santos while Fruta Conquerors will faceoff with Order and Discipline from 14:00hrs.
In the final matches of the day, Sunburst Camptown will lock horns with Black Pearl and Beacons FC will tackle Pele FC from 15:00hrs.
