A carpenter was on Monday charged with fraudulently converting over $2 million given to him to buy a boat and engine and parts.
Safraz Ally pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 4, 2014, he fraudulently converted $2.6 million which was entrusted to him by Anna Correia.
According to the allegations read in court, Correia gave Ally the money in order to purchase and return to her a boat, a 200-horsepower engine, a steering wheel and two steel blade propellers. However, instead of doing so, Ally allegedly converted the money to his own use and benefit.
The resident of Charity was granted $200,000 bail and is expected to make his next court appearance on May 8.
