Although police are following leads, there has been no arrest as yet in connection with the murder of shopkeeper Shawn Anys, who was shot in his Sophia home in front of his children.
Anys, 37, of Lot 743 ‘D’ Field, Sophia, was killed in an attack by two persons,
at around 10:50PM last Friday night.
A police source told Stabroek News that no one has yet been arrested but the police had received certain information and investigations are still ongoing.
An autopsy conducted on Monday confirmed that Anys died as a result of brain haemorrhaging due to a gunshot he received to his head.
Police had said Anys went out into his yard to make a check because his dogs were barking continuously.
He was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. During the confrontation, the police said, Anys was shot by the perpetrators, who then entered the home and took away a laptop computer, two cell phones and $40,000.
Anys will be laid to rest next Monday.
