With the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Inter-county fixtures nearing their start, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has organised two 50-over trial matches to be played at the Albion Sports Complex ground.
The two matches which involve 36 of the top players from across Berbice will be used as a measuring stick by selectors for their final squad ahead of the competition. Berbice A will be led by Guyana and West Indies opener Assad Fudadin while the B team will be led by national wicket-keeper/batsman, Anthony Bramble.
Fudadin will have the services of fellow West Indies players in Royston Crandon, Narsingh Deonarine, and Devendra Bishoo; while the talents of Sharaz Ramcharran, Raun Johnson, Gudakesh Motie, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Romario Shepherd, Rajiv Ivan, Krishendat Ramoo and others.
The Bramble-led team B will have firepower in West Indies Test spinner Veerasammy Permaul, Jonathan Foo, West Indies U19 batsman Shimron Hetmyer, Balchand Baldeo, Keon Joseph, Akshay Homraj, Seon Hetmyer among others.
Match one will be played today while the second will be contested tomorrow Saturday May 9 from 9.00 am. The players are asked to report to the ground at 8.00 am sharp while trials for the three-day leg will commence on Tuesday May 12, 2015.
Meanwhile, Demerara bowled off their first day of trials yesterday at the Wales Community ground as the players engaged in a 10 overs per-side warm up game which is expected to continue today at the same venue.
