Ricardo Adams’ all-round brilliance proved enough to give Wakenaam the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB)/Busta limited overs title.
Adams captured 4-27 and smashed an unbeaten 53 in his side win by three wickets over Central Essequibo on Sunday last at Imam Bacchus ground, Affiance.
Central Essequibo took first strike in front of a fair-sized crowd after the game was reduced to 38 overs-a-side and were bowled out for 187.
Nathan Persaud top scored with 82.
Adams was supported by off-spinners Nokta Moses 3-27 and Vickram Ramnarine 2-25.
In reply, Wakenaam reached 188-7 in 33 overs. Their chase was spearheaded by Adams while Wayne Osbourne (49) and Moses (27), who added 61 for the third wicket made valuable contributions. Seon Venture also chipped in with 18 not out.
Spinners Akeel Wallace 3-22 and Herry Green 2-36 were the pick of the bowlers for Central Essequibo.
For his excellent display during the match, Adams was named Man-of-the-Match while Wakenaam received a trophy and $75,000.
