A Guyhoc Gardens resident died yesterday at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was shot to his head by a man who had fired at another man on Main Street.
Nigel Isaacs, 39, of Guyhoc Gardens was rushed to the hospital and died hours after he was placed on a life support machine in an unconscious state.
He was said to have been brain dead on admission.
In a statement, the police said that at 25 minutes after midnight yesterday, the driver of HB 4024 accidentally collided with motor car PPP 7994 that was parked on Main Street. “A licensed firearm holder who was in the vicinity confronted the driver and discharged several rounds in his direction,” the police said. According to the statement, the shooter missed the driver and struck Isaacs to his head.
The shooter has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Stabroek News was told that the shooter is Isaacs’ friend. The incident occurred outside Palm Court.
Yesterday, Isaacs’ relatives who gathered at the hospital declined to speak to the media.
A visit to his home was also futile since his eldest son said that he could not comment on the matter.
