APNU+AFC Coalition up to press time last evening expressed satisfaction with yesterday’s regional and general elections polling.
At two brief press conferences, held at 2 pm and 6 pm at the party’s headquarters in Queenstown, Georgetown, representatives from both sides informed that despite minor glitches they were satisfied with the way polling went.
Party executive Raphael Trotman said that while they received reports of some infractions such as an underage female being allowed to vote in Region 6 and minor glitches at other polling stations voting itself went smoothly.
He said too that from preliminary observations the voting turnout was much higher at this election when compared to that of 2011.
Trotman urged peace among the populace as they await the official results of this year’s elections but stressed that citizens should be vigilant of their places of poll. “We have an individual and collective responsibility now to protect our gains…people have a right and in fact a duty to protect the democratic process, which is unfolding today,” he stated.
The party called on its constituency to be patient and keep calm.
