The incumbent PPP/C has remained silent on the electoral process, while noting that it has expressed concerns to the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom) about possible discrepancies.
At the party’s singular press briefing held at Freedom House yesterday prior to the closing of the polls party executive Dr Frank Anthony stated that he could not make any comments on the electoral process as of yet.

While he made no direct comment on the process Anthony did delve into a number of allegations of wrongdoings at polling stations across the country. When pressed for exact locations, Anthony and the party’s executive secretary Zulficar Mohamed could only provide two division numbers.
The PPP/C’s allegations of corrupt election practices has been cited by observers as a move by the party to prepared to contest election results the party does not agree with. When asked if this was the case Anthony stated “I think it is fair that the public should know some of the maybe incidents that are happening we think that it is important people know that.”
Among the alleged issues reported to Gecom by the PPP/C are possible scenarios where persons were unable to vote due to Gecom staff misinforming persons. Anthony said too that a few party supporters claimed that their identifies may have been stolen and votes cast in their name.
At a subsequent press briefing held by Gecom at its Command Centre, Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally shot down the possibility of voter manipulation and asked for proof so these claims could be investigated.
The PPP stated that once a comprehensive report was compiled it would be submitted ot Gecom as well as the international observers present in Guyana.
