Berbice B produced a balanced performance from both batsmen and bowlers which left Berbice A reeling at 55-6 in their first innings of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) two day trial match played at Albion.
Berbice B’s first innings total of 270, were made compliments of Anthony D’Andrade who hit five fours in his 47 and David Latchaya who made 62 with eight fours.
The two shared in a 97-run partnership.
Left-hander Rajiv Ivan chipped in with a decent 45 while West Indies Test leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo scored a brisk 39 with eight fours.
National pacer Keon “Buffy” Joseph and Niall Smith each ended with 2-36 while West Indies off-spinner Veerasammy Permaul snatched 2-58.
Raun Johnson (2-11), Bishoo (2-6) and a wicket each from Clinton Pestano and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai helped restrict their opponents to 55-6, still facing a deficit of 216 runs heading into the second day with Captain Assad Fudadin yet to come off the mark.
Berbice lost Shimron Hetmyer for a duck but got some runs from Kandasammy Surujnarine (42) who missed out on a half century.
Joshua Ramsammy (02), Sharaz Ramcharran (05), Akeem Hinds (01) and Ashkay Homraj (00) were the batsmen who succumbed to some good bowling from Berbice B.
