Dear Editor,
Why did Gecom delay the announcement of the election results? 2299 ballot boxes cannot be counted within two days?
Every party had their representative at the polling stations who had to sign the Statement of Polls that is certified correct. So why the fuss now? From the Statement of Polls which every party has, the winner can be determined.
Georgetown is now a ghost town. People are afraid to shop and go to work in GT. Businessmen are afraid to open their businesses. Millions of dollars are lost each day since the elections. A nation should not suffer because of selfish politicians who are only interested in power and to enrich themselves. The loser of the elections should accept the official Gecom results gracefully; there is always a next time.
We should congratulate the winners and hope they govern the country in the interest of the people and not themselves.
Yours faithfully,
Balwant Persaud
