Trinidad double murder suspect ordered deported

Ralph Ramdhan, the suspect in a double murder in Trinidad, was yesterday ordered deported after being fined for entering the country illegally.

Ramdhan, 50, pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of illegal entry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.

Ramdhan admitted that he illegally entered Guyana at Charity, Essequibo, sometime between November 23rd, 2014 and May 13th, 2015, by boat and did not report to an immigration officer.

The man, who is wanted in Trinidad, was fined $30,000 with an alternative of three months in prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Ramdhan will remain in police custody until the deportation order is finalised and he is returned to Trinidad.

He is allegedly connected to the fatal stabbing of Savitri Sultan, 39, and Jankie, Bachu, 48, which occurred in Trinidad in August, 2014.

Relatives of Sultan had told the Trinidad Express newspaper that despite a protection order and numerous reports lodged at the Couva Police Station, the suspect, who had threatened Sultan, was never arrested.

It was reported that the suspect had stalked the woman since she ended their relationship.

“She was with him for about four years and he used to keep beating her up. He used to mash up everything in the house. He always hit her in her face because she was a beautiful woman and he would get jealous. For weeks sometimes she would have to wear shades because of the licks,” a niece of Sultan said.

Local police said they cooperated with the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) and nabbed Ramdhan at a city hotel on Thursday.
