Two women are now in custody after they were allegedly caught with cocaine as they were preparing to board a flight for the United States at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri yesterday.
It was ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) who made the discovery.
Stabroek News was unable to ascertain the quantum of drugs found in possession of the two women, who were travelling separately on flights bound for JFK International Airport, in New York.
From all indications, they were not known to each other and the discoveries are not linked in any way.
Since the start of the year, a number of persons have placed before the court after being busted with drugs at the country’s two international airports. In the majority of the cases, they have pleaded not guilty.
