Local swimmers Onika George and Omar Adams were on Friday named to represent Guyana at the upcoming Pan Am Games in Canada.
The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) announced the two-member team at a council meeting held at Herdmonston Lodge.
The duo will be accompanied by Coach Paul Mahaica and GASA president Ivan Persaud. Persaud will also represent Guyana at the Union Americana De Natacion on the trip. George will compete in the 50 and 100 metres freestyle while Adams will swim in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle.
The event takes place July 14-18 in Canada and the team is expected to depart Guyana on July 8.
Meanwhile, Jamila Sanmoogan, who is currently on a scholarship in Colombia, will lead the team for the World Championships set for July 24th-August 9th in Kazan, Russia. The other members named are Hannibal Gaskin and Andrew Fowler. Isabel Maria Couso-Fals has been appointed coach while Charles Corbin will travel as an executive.
